What do you feel like today? Volkspark Friedrichshain fulfills almost all wishes. Sports, art, views, relaxation, history ... everything included

The park is huge, but is dominated by the small and large bunker mountain. These are old flak towers from WWII. Some of them were blown up and then filled with rubble, giving the large bunker mountain its popular name “Mont Klamott”. Parts of the flak towers are still visible today. Although they are densely overgrown with forest, they still give you wonderful views of Berlin. At 78 and 68 meters, they require quite a bit of fitness from you.

There is also a fairytale fountain (a real highlight) and lots of playgrounds. On one of them you can find the thing that looks like a UFO (but I'm not going to reveal what it is). Athletes will find plenty of running paths here, but also a beach volleyball court, parkour, half pipe, inline skating track, tennis club, bubble football, basketball court, climbing rocks ... but also a pond and forest and meadows with cozy, shady spots.
In memory of the Spanish Civil War there is the Monument to the Spanish Fighters. The monument to the Polish soldiers and German anti-fascists can also be found here. The GDR coat of arms is still shown on one side of it. A cemetery is dedicated to those who died in March 1848, including an exhibition. And a world peace bell. And another dozen works of art such as the bust of Friedrich II want to be admired. Well, then have fun!
